Day 1 - SOUTH LUANGWA NP
Depart Lilongwe at 0900 by road heading towards Mchinji. Proceed through the Zambian border. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata. Take the dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch en route and ETA at the Lodge is 2.30pm. Accommodation in en-suite chalets. Take a gentle walk along the Luangwa River. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 2 - SOUTH LUANGWA NP
Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim is to be on our first game drive by 6.15 am. All game drives are undertaken in specially modified safari vehicles. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest then head out for our afternoon drive at around 1600 - returning to the lodge at 2000. Day 3 & 4 - SOUTH LUANGWA NP
Early morning wake up call and game drives. Drinks and snacks are taken with for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Return for a delicious "brunch". An afternoon rest, swim or visit to one of the local craft stores is followed by tea, coffee and biscuits. We again head out for our afternoon drive at around 1600 - returning to the lodge at 2000 for Dinner .
Day 5 - LILONGWE (Capital City of Malawi)
After a more leisurely start to the morning and a full breakfast, we pack up and depart back to Lilongwe. Departure time is 0900. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is 1500. Check into your hotel for dinner bed and breakfast.
Day 6 - CHIOFU BAY - Lake Malawi - Start of sailing Safari
From Lilongwe, road transfer to Senga Bay. The yacht will be anchored in a sheltered bay at Senga Bay awaiting guests arrival. Set sail to Chiofu Bay on the Eastern shores of Lake Malawi. Beautiful, remote, sheltered bay. A great anchorage. Good fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Go on shore for a beach barbeque under the African stars. Overnight on "Mufasa" at anchor in the bay.
Day 7 - PALMEIROS
Take a nature walk before breakfast. Superb views over the lake. Have a refreshing swim followed by a hearty breakfast. Up anchor and sail on north up the lake to Palmeiros Lush palm trees make this a pretty overnight anchorage. Dinner and overnight on board the yacht
Day 8 - LIKOMA ISLAND
Set sail early in the morning to Likoma Island. Take a walk through the cobbled market square and visit the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral. Enjoy the culture and history of Likoma Island. Find anchorage in one of the many bays around the island. Swim, dive, snorkel, rest and relax. Meals on board the yacht. Overnight at anchor.
Day 9 - CHIZIMULU ISLAND
Sail across to Chisimulu Island. Enjoy fishing, diving and snorkeling around the island. Go for a leisurely walk on Chisimulu Island. Have a drink in the unique bar-in-the-baobab tree. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 10 - MAKUZI BEACH LODGE
Sail across to the mainland. Arrive at Makuzi Beach Lodge in the shelter of Bandawe point, just south of Chinteche. Beautiful bay, clean white beaches, super beach-side lodge. Guests check into Makuzi Beach lodge for dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 11 - ROAD TRANSFER TO LILONGWE
After breakfast guests take a road transfer to Lilongwe (+/- 4 hours)

Luangwa Valley - 9050 sq km of pristine woodland and riverine vegetation plays host to over 40 mammal and 650 bird species. The South Luangwa has been described as the premier park in Africa foremost for the variety of species seen when visiting. A visit to Malawi and Zambia would be totally incomplete without experiencing the sheer magnitude and delight of this unique area.
Thornicroft Lodge is set on the banks of the Luangwa River offering accommodation in 10 en suite chalets built from stone, concrete and wood. Each spacious and airy structure has a canvass roof and is designed to allow maximum visibility even when you are in your room. Each room has 2 X three quarter beds and luxurious mattresses and bedding to ensure you the best nights rest possible, whilst being safely tucked inside your large walk in mosquito net. Each chalet has a veranda with a view of the river and the park.
The yacht Mufasa is a 10 berth, 38 foot Maxim catamaran, designed by Alexander Simonis. She is powered by 2 x 27hp Yanmar diesel engines and has a sail area of 85 sq metres. Mast height 17 metres, draft 800mm and beam width 6.3 metres. Mufasa is the only live-aboard catamaran on Lake Malawi. The yacht is fully equipped and crewed. Layout comprises 4 cabins with queen sized beds and 2 single cabins, 2 bathrooms and an outside hot water shower, galley, saloon and cockpit under shade. The yacht is fully equipped for cruising, has category 1 blue water safety equipment. Fishing tackle, masks and snorkels are on board and available for guests use. Scuba diving equipment will be loaded on for diving charters.
